This seminar has been prepared focusing on those professionals who need to strengthen their English writing skills to use and prepare documents as part of their tasks. Participants will review business communication theory, document formats and layout, and grammar. They will acquire and practice techniques to help them produce effective business messages.

  • Indirect - Negative or persuasive messages

 

Speaker

Prof. Maria E. Rivera Laborde has taught business communications, report writing and conversational business English in the College of Business Administration at the University of Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras Campus beginning in 1980. She obtained both a Bachelor and a Master degree in British and American literature from the College of Humanities, specializing in British Caribbean writing. She was the director of the Business English Department in the College of Business Administration for eight years until retiring in December 2010. At present she works as social media manager for a music group, as a substitute teacher at a private school, and creates mosaic art. In April 2010 she became a Microsoft® Certified Application Specialist in Power Point and Word as well as getting a 1C3 Internet and Computing Core Certification. She is a great believer that it's never too late to learn something new or to improve what we already know.
